Where it fights back

Stitching. Count and spacing carry construction quality. Decorative stitch lines that wander are an obvious tell.

Material behaviour is not one thing
A silhouette in suede, smooth leather, patent, mesh, and canvas is five different lighting problems. Suede scatters light and has a nap direction; patent is nearly specular and mirrors its environment; mesh is semi-transparent with visible structure.
This matters most for colorway extension. Producing one colorway's angle set and extending it across the range works cleanly when the material is constant — and produces confidently wrong images when colorway also means material change. Check every material variant individually; the tooling will happily render suede that behaves like leather.
