1.7 Poses & Framing

A product gallery should answer questions about the garment. Choose poses and framing for useful coverage, not variety for its own sake.

Purpose

In this video, we’ll choose poses and shot framing that show the garment clearly for online shopping. We already have a look we’re happy with. Now we’ll show its fit, shape and details.

Read the poses and framing

Let’s open two product galleries on Bobo Choses. Look at how the models are positioned in the front, back and side photos. Then notice the shot framing—how much of the model and garment is included. A full-length photo shows the whole outfit; a closer crop focuses on part of it.

Show the garment’s details

Now look through our shirt’s gallery for photos that show its details. Look for the collar and the hem—the bottom edge of the shirt. Notice whether a turned pose or hair moved aside makes those details easier to see. For a jacket, showing it closed may matter too. These details help us choose poses and shot framing for each garment.

Build the set

List the views we want to create. This is our shot list. One option in Lookbook is Pose, where we can change the model’s position. Check that each result shows the intended garment detail and keeps the clothes and styling consistent.

Closing thought

Here are the views together. We can see the overall fit and the details we chose to show.
